South West Local Food Partnership Report - Buying Public, Buy Local
The South West Public Sector Food Procurement Strategy Group commissioned South West Local Food Partnership to quantify the amount spent on food and drink purchased by specified public sector organisations in the South West to explore opportunities for producers based in the area to supply the public sector.
Cornwall Suppliers Workshop
A workshop was held by South West Food and Drink, SWFD on the 1st February for food suppliers interested in supplying the public sector. The event was organised by Andy Berry, the Public Sector Food Procurement Manager at SWFD and involved Mary Hughes - an independent food industry consultant and EFFP.
Meet the Supplier Event
This paper is a review of the Meet the Supplier events held by the Government Office for the South West (GOSW) in Bridgwater and Launceston on 02 and 03 March 2006, respectively. Workshop participants consisted of suppliers, both primary producers (farmers and growers) and intermediaries (wholesalers), as well as procurement officers, and representatives of support organisations in the region, including Taste of the West, Business Link and Somerset Foodlinks.

The Cornwall Food Programme
The Cornwall Food Programme, working in partnership with the Soil Association, has transformed menus by serving increasing amounts of fresh, locally produced and organic food to patients, visitors and staff.

PSFPP Cornwall Report
A workshop titled 'Creating Supply Chain Opportunities' was organised on 14th March 2008 by Cornwall Taste of the West to provide consultancy and advisory support, to facilitate farmers, growers and primary producers to work collectively, to become "supply ready" for public sector contracts.

Practical workshop on using Local Produce
This workshop was organised to offer school caterers and other selected organisations the opportunity to prepare, cook and eat local produce. This taster workshop held on the 28th March was scheduled for 6 caterers from schools and a Nursing home group; unfortunately the schools could not attend.
Getting Ready for Procurement
These events were aimed at farmers, growers and primary processors, and their purpose was to inform delegates about the alternatives to this route and the opportunities for supplying into the public sector and to try to dispel some of the commonly held myths.
Two events were held on Thursday 28th February 2008 at Felton Village Hall near Bristol with the support of North Somerset Primary Care Trust, A Taste of North Somerset and North Somerset Council and on Wednesday 2nd April 2008 at the University of the West of England with the support of South Gloucestershire Council.
